The traditional ancient methods employed in the forging of this katana date back over 2600 years. Crafting a superior sword requires the execution of more than 20 major processes, including smelting, blanking, hot forging, shoveling, filing, grinding, and decoration, each of which encompasses several smaller sub-processes. Through the process of local quenching, the blade's hardness and strength are significantly enhanced, resulting in a sharper edge. The blade itself undergoes a meticulous grinding sequence, transitioning from coarse to fine, encompassing more than ten distinct steps. The end result is a blade that is sharp, flat, and bright, with a straight ridge line and a standard groove line. The exquisite decorative elements of the Tsuka, Saya, and Tsuba are also an integral part of the sword's construction.

This 1045 steel, hand-forged Japanese Samurai Katana Sword Shirasaya features a full tang, ancient heat treatment, conventional manual grinding, and is highly functional. With an approximate 28.3-inch blade, a 10.24-inch handle, a 1.26-inch blade width, and a 0.28-inch blade thickness, the overall length of the sword is 40.2 inches. The blade's hardness measures 55 HRC. The sword is equipped with a wooden handle and a detachable structure, as well as a wooden scabbard. A stand is not included.
